Polling begins for the third and final Phase of JK Assembly election

Udhampur :- Polling for the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections commenced on Wednesday in Udhampur district amid tight security. Voting began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, as per Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. This historic election marks the first since the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, which led to the reorganization of the former state into two union territories. The ECI has set up 654 polling stations across Udhampur’s four assembly constituencies: Udhampur West, Udhampur East, Chenani, and Ramnagar (SC). A total of 37 candidates are contesting across these constituencies, with Udhampur West seeing the highest number at 12 candidates. Early reports indicate a strong turnout, with long queues of voters, including first-time participants, eager to exercise their democratic right. The election’s outcome is highly anticipated, given its significance in shaping the region’s political landscape following recent constitutional changes. TDD
