Locals slam MLA Pyaray Lal for neglect

Kishtwar, (DD): In a shocking incident that highlights the crumbling infrastructure in remote areas of Kishtwar, a pregnant woman was forced to deliver on the roadside in Patnazi-Bounjwah after she could not be transported to a hospital in time due to the severely damaged road conditions.

According to local sources, the woman’s family tried to rush her to a nearby health facility, but the Patnazi-Bounjwah road was in such a deplorable condition that no vehicle could reach her in time. With no other option, the delivery took place on the roadside, putting both the mother and newborn at grave risk.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who have long been demanding the repair and maintenance of the crucial road connecting Bounjwah to Patnazi. Many blame MLA Inderwal Pyaray Lal, accusing him of failing to address basic issues such as road infrastructure, healthcare, and other essential services.

“Our MLA has ignored us for years. Roads are in pathetic condition, healthcare facilities are almost nonexistent, and no one listens to us. How many more tragedies like this will it take for the authorities to wake up?” said an angry local resident.

Despite repeated pleas, the administration and local representatives have failed to take concrete action, leaving villagers to suffer, especially during medical emergencies.

While the authorities have yet to issue an official statement, the incident highlights the urgent need for better road connectivity and improved healthcare access in remote areas of Kishtwar. Locals have now appealed to the district administration and the Jammu and Kashmir government to intervene immediately and ensure road repairs before another tragedy unfolds: (DD)
