Zanskar, DD, In view of the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Zanskar, In-charge Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar, Mohd Hassan, chaired a review meeting at Tourist Dak Bungalow, Padum, to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made well in advance.
During the meeting, various nodal officers were appointed to oversee specific aspects of the arrangements. Officials from different departments of Zanskar Sub-Division engaged in detailed discussions to chalk out logistical plans for the smooth conduct of the visit.
SDM Hassan directed all key officers to submit requisitions to their respective higher authorities at the earliest to ensure timely resolution of any issues related to the arrangements. He emphasised that adequate preparations are essential to welcome His Holiness and to manage the associated events seamlessly.
President of the Zanskar Buddhist Association, Mr. Faksang Lawang, raised the need for the construction of additional toilet facilities for pilgrims, particularly those expected to visit Zanskar for the upcoming Summer Mega Symposium scheduled to be held at Karsha.
The SDM instructed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the smooth organisation of both the Dalai Lama’s visit and the symposiums, including the Yarchos Chenmo event.
The SDM further directed the appointed nodal officers to ensure that adequate accommodation arrangements are made for VVIPs, dignitaries, and other guests.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Army (OC Army Camp Padum), GREF, Executive Engineers, Block Development Officers (BDOs), President of the Zanskar Gonpa Association, and committee members of the Summer Mega Symposium.DD
