Kishtwar:DD, Principal Secretary Home, J&K UT, Chandraker Bharti (IAS), today visited Chashoti village in Kishtwar district to assess the ongoing rescue and relief operations following the devastating cloudburst on the directions of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.
The Principal Secretary was accompanied by DIG Shridhar Patil,IPS, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS, SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh-JKPS, CEO Emergency Relief Organisation(ERO), Dr. Amir Hussain, ACR Kishtwar Idrees lone besides other Senior Officers.
As per the latest reports, more than 60 bodies have been recovered so far, while search operations are actively continuing to trace those still missing.
The calamity has resulted in significant loss of life, widespread damage to property, and severe disruption across the affected region.
During the visit, the Principal Secretary Home undertook a comprehensive assessment of the ground situation, engaged with local residents, and held detailed interactions with rescue personnel and civil administration teams.
He also evaluated the immediate requirements of the affected families to ensure timely delivery of relief measures.
The Principal Secretary underscored the need for a swift, coordinated, and sustained response from all concerned departments and agencies to maximize rescue outcomes and accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts.DD
