Jammu, TDD: JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra today welcomed two prominent personalities into the congress party namely Dr. Sandeep Singh (Sandy) Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Long Learning, Facility of Social Science, former President Jammu University Teachers Association and Sohit Sharma Additional Spokesperson of PDP and said that this indicates change in the thought process of people especially in the awakened class in Jammu that Congress is the only secular , democratic and unifying force which can do justice to all sections of people.
Prof. Sandeep Singh is well known socio- political activist and worked intensively on cross-border peace dialogue both as activists and researcher. Mr. Sohit Sharma has remained associated with PDP for long time and worked as additional spokesperson of the party.
Welcoming them in to the party at PCC HQ Jammu today Shri Karra told media persons there is change in the thought process amongst the people of Jammu after the outcome of recent elections that it is only the congress party which can effectively address the issues of people of all sections of Jammu region in view of its secular approach and progressive outlook. He said that people realized that they sometimes get emotionally black mailed during elections process by the communal and emotional narratives of the BJP but it is the congress party which always delivered justice and fulfilled the promises with the people.
He said that in the coming days more and more likeminded people and forces will join the congress party since congress is strong and steady on its principles of secularism and socialism and believes in strengthening democracy and constitution.
Taking to media persons Prof Sandeep Singh said that he believes that if natural for Indian people to be part of congress as it reflects the ethos of indianness and of the constitution , while expressing his concern for the distortion of parliamentary democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the present leadership of PCC led by Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra encouraged him to actively join congress party for the betterment of the people.
Mr Sohit Sharma while explaining the reasons for joining congress said that he believes that congress is the right platform to raise the issues of people of Jammu region and can do justice and the congress party will emerge stronger in Jammu region in the coming days under the present leadership
