Srinagar, (DD)In a major offensive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police have attached properties valued at approximately Rs 1.2 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, targeting individuals involved in multiple narcotics cases across the district.
In a key action under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, police seized a single-storey residential house along with one kanal of land in Sallar. The property, estimated at Rs 70 lakh, belongs to Bashir Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Aziz Wani, who was implicated in FIR No. 65/2018 at Police Station Srigufwara following the recovery of a significant quantity of poppy straw.
In a separate development linked to FIR No. 35/2025 under Sections 8/20-29 NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara, a residential house and a vehicle (Registration No. JK02AV-1235) belonging to Tajdar Amin Khan, son of Mohd Amin Khan of Goriwan Bijbehara (currently residing at Karewa Colony Bijbehara), were also attached. Additionally, a shopping complex owned by Bilal Ahmad Itoo, son of Ghulam Hassan Itoo of Gund Nasir, Bijbehara, was seized.
Further, under FIR No. 213/2024 registered at Police Station Bijbehara, a vehicle (Registration No. HR16L-3657) owned by Harjinder Singh, son of Gurdiyal Singh of Mubarak Pur, Kapurthala (Punjab), was attached in accordance with the NDPS Act.
The cumulative market value of the attached properties is estimated at Rs 1.2 crore.
These robust actions highlight the police’s unwavering resolve to disrupt the economic foundations of the narcotics trade. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to holding offenders accountable and have urged the public to report drug-related activities, assuring that the identity of informants will remain strictly confidential.(DD)
