Proud Beginning for Towering Tricolour at Banwat View Point, Poonch

Poonch; In a deeply moving and symbolic ceremony reflecting pride, unity and national spirit, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, SM, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division, laid the foundation stone for a 105-ft Monumental National Flag at Banwat View Point in Bandichechiyan (CCB) village of Poonch district.

The occasion marked the commencement of a landmark project that will stand as a lasting symbol of courage, resilience and the aspirations of the people living in this border region.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Poonch, the proposed monumental Tricolour is envisioned as a beacon of national pride and a tribute to the sacrifices made by generations in safeguarding the nation.

The foundation stone laying ceremony also marked the launch of a month-long social initiative aimed at strengthening community bonds through collective participation, shared responsibility and a common vision for a brighter future.

The grand inauguration of the National Flag is scheduled on 26 January 2026, coinciding with Republic Day.

Upon completion, Banwat View Point is expected to emerge as a centre of patriotic inspiration, contributing to the promotion of tourism, reinforcing local cultural identity and instilling a renewed sense of belonging and national pride among the people of the region.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local villagers, community representatives, civil dignitaries and Indian Army personnel.

The atmosphere was filled with heartfelt expressions of gratitude and admiration, reflecting the strong emotional connect between the people and the Indian Army.

On the occasion, the Indian Army reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the local population, promoting unity, development and the enduring spirit of the Tiranga in the border areas.DD
