Srinagar:(DD) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday lauded the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their spontaneous and powerful condemnation of Pakistan in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new guest house at the revered Dargah Hazratbal shrine, LG Sinha said, “The way people took to the streets, denouncing the terrorist country Pakistan, reflects a bold and united voice against terrorism. As much as this is appreciated, it will still be less.”
The comments come amid a wave of public protests across the Union Territory, where citizens gathered in large numbers to denounce cross-border terrorism and express solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
Waving national flags and raising anti-terror slogans, demonstrators in several towns called for justice and tougher action against terror networks. The unprecedented response from locals is being seen as a strong message against those attempting to disrupt peace in the region.
LG Sinha also emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to development and peace. He said the guest house project at Dargah Hazratbal would enhance facilities for devotees and boost tourism in the area.
“The spirit shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir is a reflection of their resolve for peace and prosperity,” the Lieutenant Governor added.(DD)
