Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory predicting a spell of rain and snow across Jammu and Kashmir from March 10 to 14, urging residents, travelers, and farmers to take necessary precautions.

According to the forecast, the weather will remain dry until March 9. However, from March 10 to 11, many areas, especially in the higher reaches, are expected to receive light to moderate rain and snowfall. The weather will turn generally cloudy on March 12, followed by another spell of rain and snow on March 13 and 14, which could impact travel and daily activities in the region.

In light of the forecast, authorities have advised tourists, travelers, and transporters to stay updated with official traffic advisories and plan their journeys accordingly. The possibility of snowfall in mountainous areas may lead to road closures or disruptions, particularly on highways and high-altitude passes.

Farmers have been advised to complete their agricultural activities, including sowing and harvesting, before March 9 to avoid any adverse impact from the expected precipitation. Additionally, residents, especially those living in hilly and avalanche-prone areas, have been warned to exercise caution and avoid steep slopes to minimize risks.

The administration has assured that necessary preparations are in place to tackle any weather-related disruptions, and people are urged to follow updates from official sources for timely information.(DD)
