Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar,(DD) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the flood-ravaged areas of Kishtwar district on Sunday, as rescue and relief operations enter their ninth consecutive day following a devastating cloudburst in Chasoti village.

Sources said the Defence Minister will review the ongoing rescue efforts, interact with affected families, and assess the relief and rehabilitation measures on the ground.

The cloudburst, which struck on August 14, unleashed massive flash floods that have so far claimed at least 65 lives, while more than 70 people remain missing.

Rescue teams comprising the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local administration continue large-scale search operations in the affected areas(DD)
