Ramban, DD: The District Administration Ramban, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (District Election Officer) Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, celebrated the 15th National Voters’ Day (NVD) with enthusiasm and participation from various stakeholders across the district.
The celebrations commenced with a massive voters’ awareness rally flagged off by the DC, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Kulbir Singh, from Community Hall Maitra. The rally witnessed overwhelming participation from citizens, students, officers, and stakeholders and culminated at the Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Ramban.
Following the rally, a grand event was organized at GMHSS Ramban, attended by MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju; DC Ramban; SSP Kulbir Singh; ADDC Roshan Lal; ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak; Dy. DEO Abdul Jabbar; ACR S. Harpal Singh, and other senior officers and citizens.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner administered the Voters’ Pledge to participants, emphasizing the importance of being sincere, unbiased, fearless, and responsible voters. The pledge underscored the significance of strengthening Indian democracy.
Students from various schools and local artists showcased vibrant cultural performances, including songs and dances, and participated in a debate competition on the theme “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure.” These activities highlighted the importance of voting and civic responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ramban appreciated the District Administration for ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in the district. He also spoke about the significance of the day, the achievements of the Election Commission of India (ECI), and the importance of the electoral process in a democracy.
The DC, in his speech, reminded attendees that National Voters’ Day marks the foundation day of the ECI. He encouraged youth to enroll as voters and obtain their EPICs, a document of pride for all Indian citizens. The DC also lauded the efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Supervisors, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for their contributions to successful electoral processes.
The SSP urged citizens, especially youth, to educate their families and communities about the importance of voting and participating in the forthcoming elections. He also encouraged young women to focus on education for their personal and social development.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed by the MLA, DC, and other dignitaries to officers, officials, Media Persons and BLOs for their exceptional contributions to the electoral process. Students who excelled in debate and cultural programs as part of the NVD celebrations were also felicitated.
The National Voters’ Day was similarly celebrated at sub-divisional, tehsil, and institutional levels across Ramban, with events held in educational and vocational institutions to spread awareness about the importance of voting.DD
