Rescue operation on to trace missing persons

RAMBAN, DD, A cloudburst struck village Gadgram in Tehsil Rajgarh of district Ramban last night, claiming the lives of four persons.
The cloudburst triggered flash floods and landslides that swept away five people and caused damage to several houses, a school and other structures in the area.
Upon receiving information about the incident at midnight, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, along with SSP Arun Gupta, Additional SP Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman, ACR Shokat Hayat Mattoo and other officers, immediately rushed to the spot.
The Deputy Commissioner supervised the rescue and relief operations, which were jointly carried out by the teams of Civil Administration, SDRF, Police, CRPF, Army, SOG, and Civil QRT along with local volunteers.
Four bodies have been recovered, while search operations are on to trace the remaining missing person.
The District Administration has extended immediate relief to affected people from the District Red Cross Fund. The Deputy Commissioner expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and assured them of all possible assistance. He also directed the concerned officers to submit a detailed report on losses and damages at the earliest, so that relief can be provided under SDRF norms.
Meanwhile, the general public has been urged to properly follow weather advisories issued by the District Administration and other competent authorities from time to time for the safety of the public.DD
