Rana reviews facilities at Gujjar-Bakerwal PG Boys Hostel Jammu

JAMMU, DD, Tribal Affairs Minister, Javed Ahmed Rana, today conducted a comprehensive review of the Gujjar-Bakerwal PG Boys Hostel in Jammu, interacting with students and assessing the current facilities as well as identifying key areas for improvement.

Accompanied by Director Tribal Affairs, Mohd Mumtaz Ali, the Minister announced several key initiatives designed to empower the students and provide them with the tools for personal and professional growth.

In order to provide better counselling and accessibility for tribal students in competitive exams, the Minister directed for identification and selection of coaching institutes that would provide specialized training to postgraduate students in Administrative Services and other competitive exams.

Similarly, for uplifting the students academic progress, the Minister announced that Tablets would be provided to all PG students residing in the hostel and Director Tribal Affairs was tasked to submit a proposal for this initiative, so that the students have access to the latest technology to facilitate their studies and enhance their learning experience.

To promote physical fitness and recreational activities, Rana committed to providing sports kits to all residents.

In terms of infrastructural development, the Minister emphasized the urgent need for repairs and renovation of the hostel, particularly the drainage system, which was severely damaged by recent floods.

Later, the Minister also reviewed the condition of the Aquaf land at Sunjawan, with plans to assess suitability of land for construction of additional hostel accommodation to address growing demand for more residential space for students.

A key highlight of the visit was the introduction of a Skill Upgradation Competition, which will be held regularly, with an inter-hostel competition scheduled every three months.DD
