The initiative is part of a proactive effort to prevent the misuse of mobile phone SIM cards in anti-national and unlawful activities. With a surge in cyber fraud and security concerns, this drive seeks to verify the authenticity of documents submitted by subscribers and ensure strict adherence by vendors to the guidelines mandated by the Department of Telecommunications.
Speaking about the drive, SSP Reasi emphasized, “The misuse of SIM cards poses a grave threat to both national security and public safety. This verification drive aims to ensure that mobile connections are issued responsibly, leaving no room for exploitation by malicious entities.”
The District Police Reasi has urged all SIM card vendors to fully cooperate with the ongoing verification process and adhere to the prescribed protocols to avoid any punitive action.
