Srinagar, May 24(DD)The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has announced a significant shift in weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir starting today, bringing much-needed relief from the ongoing spell of intense heat and dry weather.
According to Director MeT Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, the weather on May 24 is expected to remain generally cloudy, with intermittent brief spells of rain and thundershowers across many areas of the Kashmir division and scattered places in the Jammu division. Some regions may also experience gusty winds and intense showers.
From May 25 to 26, the weather is likely to remain generally hot and dry. However, isolated areas may receive brief spells of light rain, particularly during the late afternoon hours.
Between May 27 and 31, the region is expected to witness scattered to widespread rain or thundershowers. Some of these weather events may be accompanied by gusty winds and heavy showers.
The Meteorological Centre has also issued an advisory indicating a fall in maximum temperatures by 2–3°C at many locations starting today, providing a break from the prevailing heatwave conditions. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and be prepared for temporary weather disturbances in the coming days.
This forecast brings a welcome change for the region, which has been experiencing prolonged dry and hot conditions.(DD)
