Srinagar, (DD): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee on reservations has completed its report, and the government will take a decision after it is presented in the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

“There is no Assembly session taking place at the moment, so no bill is being passed right now,” Omar told reporters in Aligarh.

He added, “As far as the reservation issue is concerned, the Cabinet Sub-Committee has finalized its report. The report will be placed before the Cabinet. Cabinet meetings are held twice a month, and while no meeting has been held yet this month, one is scheduled in the coming days. Once the report is tabled, we will go through the recommendations and take appropriate action.”

On Tuesday, Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo also confirmed in a post on social media platform X that the Sub-Committee had submitted its report within the stipulated six-month timeframe and that it would be placed before the Cabinet during its next meeting.

The minister’s announcement drew sharp reactions from students and opposition parties, who demanded that both the report and the date of the Cabinet meeting be made public.(DD)
