Kathua, (DD): A robbery attempt at the J&K Bank Govindsar branch on NH44 was thwarted by the night patrolling team of Police Post (PP) Hatli.
In the intervening night of 25th-26th February, two burglars—Ankush Sharma, son of Parkash Chand from Darsoo, Udhampur, and Sunil Singh, son of Dharam Singh from Hatli, Kathua—broke into the bank by cutting through a side wall. As they attempted to breach the strong room, the police patrol noticed suspicious activity and intervened. However, taking advantage of the darkness, the burglars managed to escape.
A swift operation led by PSI Subham Mahajan, IC PP Hatli, under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS), DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh, and SHO PS Kathua Insp. Sandeep Chib, and overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), successfully tracked and arrested the suspects from Kootah area of Hiranagar on the same day.
An FIR (No. 97/2025) under sections 324(4), 331(4), 305, and 62 BNS has been registered at PS Kathua, and further investigation is underway.(DD)
