‘JKP, central intelligence, other security agencies questioning detained youth to ascertain source of seized cash’

LAKHANPUR:DD, A total of around Rs 3.36 crores cash has been seized with the arrest of two youth in Lakhanpur on J&K-Punjab border in Kathua District.
“It was around Rs 3.36 crores has been handed over to the Income Tax Department by the police,” said the sources in the police department, who are investigating the matter.
They told Diplomat Digital that the investigation is going on to ascertain the source of the cash.
“The seized SUV has a permanent cavity that is covered professionally to avoid its detection underneath the foot-mats/ vehicle’s seat,” the police sources added.
They said that the central agencies, involved in the investigation, have been questioning the duo, keeping in view all angles.
Pertinently, the huge amount of cash was being shifted from Delhi to Srinagar, the police sources informed.
However, the vehicle was intercepted and seized at Lakhanpur on the basis of inputs provided by the central intelligence agency.
The police sources did not rule out more arrests in the case. Further details are awaited.DD
