TDD Correspondent

Srinagar, TDD: Ruqaya Jan, a courageous acid attack survivor from Srinagar, today opened her heart about the 12-year-long battle she has fought since the brutal incident that changed her life forever.

In an emotional press conference, she shared her journey of pain, healing and triumph, urging others who have faced similar tragedies to hold on to hope.

In 2013, Ruqaya’s world was shattered when a man hurled an acid bottle at her, causing severe burns to her face and body. Despite the overwhelming physical and emotional scars, Ruqaya never gave up. “The pain was immense, and the scars were deep, but I never lost hope,” she said. “I want to tell every acid attack survivor in Kashmir – do not lose hope. I have lived through the worst, but today, I stand before you, stronger and more determined than ever.”

Ruqaya credited her recovery to the exceptional medical care she received at Apollo Hospital, where she was treated with the utmost compassion and expertise. “The treatment I received at Apollo Hospital was world-class. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Shaheen Norezan, the plastic surgeon, whose kindness and professionalism made a world of difference in my recovery,” she said, reflecting on the support she received from the hospital staff.

Her powerful words resonated with many, especially those who have faced similar traumatic experiences. Ruqaya’s message was clear: healing is possible, and no matter how dark the past may seem, the future holds the promise of recovery and hope. “Your past does not define your future. I am living proof that you can overcome any challenge,” she declared.

Today, Ruqaya’s spirit stands as a symbol of survival and strength. Through her resilience and unwavering determination, she has become an inspiration to all, showing that with courage, support, and perseverance, it is possible to rebuild a life after tragedy.

Her journey is not just about survival – it is a powerful testament to the indomitable will to heal, to defy the odds, and to inspire others along the way. Ruqaya’s story is a reminder that even in the face of immense hardship, there is always hope for a brighter, stronger future.(TDD)
