Schools in Marwah Yet to Reopen, Teacher Absenteeism Raises Concerns

Imran shah

Marwah, Kishtwar, DD, Despite schools reopening across Jammu and Kashmir on March 7, 2025, several government schools in Marwah, Kishtwar district, remain non-functional due to teacher absenteeism.

According to a report submitted to SDM Marwah, Government Primary Schools in Ajanak and Lower Ayan are still not fully operational. Although six teachers are assigned to these schools, only two are attending duties, while four remain absent. A similar situation persists in Government Primary Schools in Kokundoh, Nira, and Nibra, which have yet to reopen.

Local activist and former Sarpanch Nazir Ahmad Lone has raised the issue, urging the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Marwah to ensure teacher attendance and take disciplinary action against absentees. He has also sought intervention from Tehsildar Marwah to address the matter urgently.

The delay in school operations has caused concern among parents and students, who are already struggling due to prolonged academic disruptions. Authorities are expected to take swift action to ensure that schools resume functioning without further delay.DD
