Poonch / Rajouri,(DD): After remaining closed for nearly two weeks due to intense cross-border shelling, schools along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir reopened today bringing a wave of relief and joy to students and parents alike.

Students were seen entering classrooms with visible excitement as academic activities resumed in several border villages, including those in the Poonch and Rajouri districts.

Teachers greeted students warmly, and special morning assemblies were organized in many schools to address safety concerns and uplift morale.

According to officials, the decision to reopen schools was made following a marked improvement in the security situation and a period of calm along the Line of Control (LoC).

“The situation is being closely monitored, and schools have been instructed to remain vigilant,” said one official.

Parents, who had been deeply concerned for the safety of their children, expressed relief at the return to normalcy. “We are thankful to the administration for prioritizing our children’s safety and ensuring the resumption of education,” said a local resident.

The Education Department confirmed that contingency measures remain in place in case of any emergency, and coordination with security forces continues to ensure the safety of students in sensitive areas(DD)
