Scorching Day in Kashmir as Mercury Soars Above Normal

Jammu sees slight relief; Srinagar records 34.5°C, 4.9°C above normal

Srinagar, (DD): Temperatures soared across the Kashmir Valley today, with most places recording well above normal maximums. Srinagar sizzled at 34.5°C, which is 4.9°C above normal, while Pahalgam and Qazigund also witnessed a significant rise, recording 30.2°C (5.5°C AN) and 33.6°C (6.1°C AN) respectively.

Other parts of the Valley were not spared the heat either — Kupwara touched 34.2°C (4.2°C AN), Kokernag recorded 33.6°C (3.3°C AN), and Gulmarg, usually cooler, reached 25.0°C (3.0°C AN).

In contrast, the Jammu region witnessed relatively lower daytime temperatures, with Jammu city recording 32.3°C, which is 3.7°C below normal. Katra and Bhaderwah saw slightly bel2ow-normal temperatures at 30.2°C and 32.1°C, respectively.

In Ladakh, Leh recorded 28.1°C and Kargil stood at 30.8°C, adding to the unseasonal warmth affecting the region.

These temperature readings were compiled by Kashmir Weather. Authorities have advised people, especially the elderly and children, to stay hydrated and avoid direct exposure during peak heat hours(DD)
