Jammu, TDD, Security forces have expanded their search operations to new areas in Kathua and Rajouri districts in Jammu and Kashmir following recent encounters with terrorists. These intensified efforts aim to eliminate any remaining threats in the region.
A fierce gun battle in Kathua’s Kog-Mandli forest village on Saturday resulted in the death of a policeman and a terrorist. Two police officers were also injured during the encounter. In Rajouri, a brief exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorists in Manial Gali on Sunday evening.
The ongoing search operation in Kathua has now been extended to over a dozen villages surrounding the site of the Saturday encounter. Intelligence reports suggest that at least three foreign terrorists affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) are still hiding in the forested area.
In Rajouri, the terrorists managed to escape after a brief encounter with security forces on Sunday. The operation was temporarily halted but has since resumed and expanded to new areas.
The recent incidents have prompted heightened security measures in both districts as authorities work to neutralize any potential threats posed by the remaining terrorists.TDD
