Second Edition of Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament Concludes

Mendhar: DD, The second edition of the Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by District Police Poonch, concluded today at the iconic Op Hill Stadium, Mendhar, with remarkable enthusiasm and an impressive turnout of spectators.
The tournament, which commenced on 22 September 2025, featured 64 cricket teams from the twin districts of Pir Panjal—Rajouri and Poonch.
The massive participation reflected the growing passion for sports among youth and the continued success of community-centric initiatives undertaken by District Police Poonch.
The final match witnessed an exciting contest between Star Club Surankote and Mendhar 11.
In a nail-biting last-over finish, Mendhar 11 clinched the title, displaying exceptional teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship that captivated the audience till the very end.
The closing ceremony was graced by DC Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma (JKAS), and several prominent personalities. The dignitaries lauded the players, organisers, and supporters for their dedication and spirited involvement.
They emphasised that such sporting events serve as a platform to nurture young talent, promote unity, discipline, and meaningful youth engagement—while also honouring the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh.

As part of the prize distribution ceremony, cash rewards, trophies, medals, and special individual awards were presented to outstanding performers: Winner (Mendhar 11): ₹80, 000; Runner-Up (Star Club Surankote): ₹50,000; Man of the Series: ₹5,000; and Man of the Match, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder: ₹3,000 each, along with trophies

Best Spectator, match officials, and members of the media fraternity were also felicitated with mementos in recognition of their support.

District Police Poonch expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participating teams, spectators, volunteers, media representatives, and community members for their invaluable contribution in making the tournament a resounding success.
The police administration reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting youth empowerment, sports culture, and community development through such constructive initiatives.DD
