Secretary PDD chairs meeting on electricity pending dues of Government Departments

Leh, DD: The Secretary of the Power Development Department (PDD), Vikram Singh Malik, chaired a meeting at the DC Conference Hall, Leh, to review the outstanding electricity dues of various government departments and strategize measures for their timely clearance.

At the outset, HODs from different departments provided updates on their respective electricity dues and the challenges faced in settling them.

The Secretary of PDD stressed the importance of financial discipline and urged all departments to ensure prompt payments to avoid disruptions in power supply and infrastructure development.

Highlighting the commitment of the administration to resolving the issue, Director, Accounts & Treasuries, Dr. Safdar Ali, informed that ₹20 crore would be allocated from UT funds to partially clear the dues. He emphasized the importance of utilizing these funds within the current financial year to streamline financial management and prevent further accumulation of arrears.

The Secretary PDD further directed all departments to prioritize electricity bill payments and explore mechanisms for budgetary provisions to prevent recurring delays in the future. Additionally, he instructed officials to enhance coordination between the Power Development Department and other government agencies to ensure seamless transactions and accountability.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Leh; Chief Engineer, PDD; Director, Accounts & Treasuries, Dr. Safdar Ali; and Heads of Departments (HODs) from various government departments.DD
