Jammu, J&K (India): Security has been intensified along the India–Pakistan International Border in Jammu ahead of the Republic Day celebrations scheduled for January 26, 2026.
As preparations for the national event are underway, security forces have established close coordination to ensure that no terrorist activity takes place. The Border Security Force (BSF), which guards the International Border from Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts up to Akhnoor, has stepped up patrolling in forward areas. The BSF is being supported by Village Defence Groups, Border Police, and the District Police in border villages and along major roads.
Meanwhile, joint search operations have been launched frequently in villages and remote areas of Kathua district, particularly in Basohli and adjoining regions, following recent reports of suspicious movements.
The police in Jammu city have also intensified vehicular checking at multiple locations as a precautionary measure.
Pertinently, recent incidents of drone activity reported along the Line of Control in Rajouri and similar sightings in Samba have put the entire security apparatus on high alert.DD
