Shadow cabinet unnecessary, elected Government will deliver: CM Omar

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD):Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has dismissed the need for a shadow cabinet, asserting that the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir is fully capable of fulfilling its promises to the people.

Speaking to reporters after offering condolences to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Hasnain Masoodi in Hyderpora, Omar Abdullah emphasized his administration’s commitment to good governance and public welfare.

He assured that departments have been directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply, particularly during Sehri and Iftari, so that people do not face inconvenience during the holy month.

“The government is working to provide better facilities to the public, and we will ensure essential services run smoothly during Ramadan,” he said.

Reacting to the BJP’s announcement of a shadow cabinet for Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah dismissed the move as unnecessary.

“There is no provision for a shadow cabinet in our system. We have an elected government, and it is our responsibility to serve the people. The BJP has ruled before, and now it is our turn to deliver on the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister visited Hyderpora to offer condolences to the family of Dr. Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi, who passed away recently. Dr. Sibtain was the brother of NC leader Hasnain Masoodi and father-in-law of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Omar Abdullah expressed solidarity with the grieving family and prayed for the departed soul.(DD)
