JAMMU:DD, Atleast thirty-four pilgrims have lost their lives in a deadly landslide that was triggered by incessant rainfall enroute to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Katra in District Reasi.
Among these 34 deceased pilgrims, as per the reports, ten remained unidentified.
In this tragic incident, the pilgrims were enroute to the shrine at Ardhkuwari on August 26, 2025, when a landslide hit them. As the weather conditions were already inclement,
As per the reports, atleast 34 bodies of the pilgrims were shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College, and Hospital, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
Immediately, after the landslide hit the pilgrims, a rescue operation was launched and the injured were pulled out from the debris, whereas the pilgrims, who lost their lives, were shifted to the GMC&H Jammu for identification, and other formalities.
The deceased have been identified as Pinky (25), resident of Delhi; Raj (10), resident of Punjab; Neera (35), resident of Uttar Pradesh; Chandini (25); Arvind Kumar Soni (45), resident of Churu, Rajasthan; Bhawna (12); Krishana (25/30), resident of Punjab; Gajanand (25), resident of Rajasthan; Sunita (30), resident of Uttar Pradesh; Manpreet (15/20), resident of Punjab; Tania (25), resident of Delhi; Ajay (45), resident of Delhi; Aariket (15); Sandeep Soni (41), resident of Indra Colony Nagour, Rajasthan; Ramsheran (40), resident of Punjab; Anjali (25); Mamta (45); Kartik (22), resident of Muzaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh; Rattan Bai, wife of Bhagat Ram, resident of Bhilka Kheri, Madhya Pradesh; Faqir Chand, son of Gautam Ji Gujjar, resident of Bilkh, Kheri – MP; Anil, resident of Rajasthan; Ram Pal, resident of Haryana; Anant (6), resident of Uttar Pradesh; and Raja, son of Pardeep, resident of North Delhi.
