Jammu: Police claimed to have arrested six gamblers in Jammu City.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team carried out a swift and well-coordinated raid near Kleeth Park catching six individuals red-handed while indulging in illegal gambling and arresting them on the spot.
The arrested persons were identified as Farooq Ahmed, resident of Bemina, Zahoor Ahmed, resident of Saraf Kadal, Irfan Ahmed, resident of Anantnag, Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Safa Kadal, Rouf Ahmed Khan, resident of Lal Bazaar and Jameel Ahmed, resident of Kupwara. All have been booked under Section 13 of the Gambling Act.
During the operation, police seized ₹32,000 in cash along with gambling material and other incriminating articles. Further investigation is underway to ascertain any wider links.
