Leh: Smile Foundation, in collaboration with the CDSL-Ladakh Team, successfully organised an awareness programme on myopia and cataract in Gya-Miru Village, Ladakh.
The programme aimed to educate the local community about the prevention, early detection, and management of common eye-disorders. A total of 25 beneficiaries participated in the event.
The awareness session was led by Dr Junaid Fayaz (MBBS), who delivered an interactive and informative talk. He highlighted the early signs and symptoms of myopia and cataract, emphasised the importance of timely diagnosis, and explained key preventive measures. Dr Fayaz also provided practical guidance on regular eye check-ups and effective monitoring to manage these conditions and prevent complications.
Local residents actively participated throughout the session, showing keen interest in learning about eye health. Beneficiaries raised relevant questions related to myopia and cataract, which helped foster a deeper understanding of the conditions. The programme successfully addressed and dispelled common misconceptions surrounding eye disorders and reinforced the critical role of early diagnosis and treatment.
Participants expressed their gratitude to Smile Foundation and the CDSL-Ladakh Team for bringing essential healthcare awareness services to their village and for their continued support to underserved communities.
