Snowfall Blankets Mata Vaishno Devi Hills, Temple Complex Experiences Drop in Temperature

The Diplomat Desk

Katra :TDD,The sacred hills of Mata Vaishno Devi have witnessed the season’s first snowfall, bringing joy to thousands of pilgrims and marking a significant weather change in Northern India. Recent snowfall has been reported on the Trikuta Mountains and Bhairav Valley, though the main temple complex itself has not yet received snow. The temperature drop has created a refreshing atmosphere for devotees who are particularly enjoying their spiritual journey in this cold weather.
The weather transformation has extended beyond the shrine area, with fresh snowfall reported in the higher altitude regions of Udhampur district in Jammu division, including popular destinations like Nathatop and Patnitop. The surrounding plains have also experienced light rainfall, adding to the winter ambiance. The Trikuta hills, particularly around Bhairon Ghati and Himkoti, were seen covered in a white blanket, creating a picturesque setting for pilgrims traversing the temple route.
The weather change has also brought optimism to the local tourism industry, especially in Patnitop, where hoteliers and business owners are anticipating a surge in tourist arrivals for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. The fresh snowfall has raised hopes for increased visitor numbers and better business prospects during the holiday season. Meanwhile, Jammu city and its surrounding areas have received light rainfall, contributing to the overall wintry conditions in the region.TDD
