Masoodi to lead 11-member committee amid allegations of irregularities and poor execution

Jammu, (DD): The Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, has constituted a House Committee to investigate alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) across the Union Territory.
The formation of the committee follows repeated demands from legislators who raised concerns over the planning, execution, and overall transparency of the centrally sponsored scheme, which aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to rural households.
According to the official notification, the committee will be chaired by senior legislator Hasnain Masoodi. The 11-member panel includes M.Y. Tarigami, Ali Mohammad Dar, Rajiv Jasrotia, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Tanvir Sadiq, Javaid Riyaz (Bedar), Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Rafiq Ahmad Naik, Arjun Singh Raju, and Iftikhar Ahmad.
The panel has been tasked with examining the concerns raised in the House, including discrepancies in fund utilisation, poor-quality execution of works, and complaints from beneficiaries across multiple districts.
Legislators have also cited issues such as delays, weak oversight, and a lack of accountability, calling for improved transparency and efficiency in the delivery of essential public services.
The committee is expected to submit its report along with recommendations in the coming weeks(DD)
