Srinagar, TDD,Srinagar recorded a bone-chilling minimum temperature of -3.6°C as the cold wave tightened its grip over Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Kashmir Valley saw widespread sub-zero temperatures, with Shopian plunging to -7.3°C and Zojila experiencing a staggering low of -25°C.
Tourist hotspots like Gulmarg and Pahalgam registered -4.8°C and -5.0°C, respectively, while Pulwama and Anantnag witnessed severe cold at -6.0°C and -6.1°C.
In Jammu, temperatures remained milder, with the winter capital recording 6.7°C. However, higher altitudes like Banihal (-1.7°C) and Padder (-6.8°C) experienced biting cold.
Ladakh continues to freeze, with Leh and Kargil recording -9.2°C and -9.5°C, respectively. Meteorologists predict the cold wave will persist, urging residents to prepare for freezing nights ahead.
Meanwhile, the harsh weather is attracting winter tourists to destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg, where snow-covered landscapes are a major draw. (TDD)
