Action targets financial network of notorious peddler Hilal Ahmad Bhat; public urged to support anti-drug efforts

Srinagar,(DD)In a decisive move against the growing menace of drug trafficking, Srinagar Police have attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 50 lakh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The property—a single-storey residential house—belongs to Hilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Sector-7, Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina. Bhat is a known drug peddler implicated in FIR No. 01/2025, registered under Sections 8/20, 29 NDPS Act and 111 BNS at Police Station Karan Nagar.
Following investigations, the property was found to have been acquired using proceeds from illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the authorities formally seized and attached the property, ensuring it cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.
Police said the accused had a history of drug peddling and was actively involved in supplying narcotics, particularly targeting local youth, thereby posing a grave threat to public health and safety.
This action is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks. By targeting and dismantling the financial infrastructure that sustains these networks, the police aim to curb the spread of narcotics and protect the community.
