Srinagar, (DD):In a decisive move against the drug menace, Srinagar Police has attached a property valued at over Rs 1.03 crore under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The property — a two-storeyed residential house — is located in the Aali Masjid Eidgah area and belongs to Mir Romaan, son of Mohammad Hashim Mir. The accused is a known drug peddler and is involved in FIR No. 136/2024 registered under sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Safakadal.

Investigations have revealed that the property was acquired through proceeds from illicit drug trafficking. Mir Romaan is accused of targeting local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to public health and societal well-being.

Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, the police formally attached the immovable property following due legal process. As per law, the property cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.

This action is part of the larger crackdown by Jammu and Kashmir Police aimed at dismantling drug networks and crippling their financial infrastructure. Authorities reiterated that such operations will continue with full force in order to protect communities from the devastating effects of substance abuse.

Srinagar Police has urged citizens to remain vigilant and share any information related to drug trafficking, reaffirming that public cooperation is crucial in the fight against narcotics(DD)
