Srinagar, (DD):In a significant move aimed at curbing subversive activities and dismantling anti-national networks, Srinagar Police have booked five terror associates linked to proscribed terrorist organizations under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The individuals have been detained following formal detention orders issued on the basis of detailed dossiers prepared by the police.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Nayeem Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan, resident of Gamandar Panthachowk, Srinagar.
- Faizan Akhter Bhat alias Faizan, son of Akhter Hussain Bhat, resident of Gousia Colony, Khanyar, Srinagar.
- Mehraj Ud Din Bhat, son of late Mohammad Sidiq Bhat, resident of Pandach, 90 FT Road, Srinagar.
- Umar Hamid Sheikh, son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh, resident of Assar Colony, Hazratbal, Srinagar.
- Suhaib Shafi Baba alias Chamna, son of Mohammad Shafi Baba, resident of Diwat Walipora, Rainawari, Srinagar.
These individuals were reportedly involved in repeated criminal and anti-national activities despite facing multiple criminal cases in the past. According to police sources, even after being granted bail by courts in earlier cases, the accused continued to engage in activities deemed prejudicial to the security and integrity of the nation.
Following their arrest, the detainees have been lodged in high-security district jails located in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kot Balwal in Jammu region.
A senior police official stated that this action is part of an ongoing effort to systematically target and dismantle terro2r-support infrastructure in Srinagar. “The Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to ensuring peace and stability in the region and will continue its crackdown on elements involved in unlawful and disruptive activities,” the official added.
Authorities have also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in similar activities, reiterating that the “long arm of the law will catch up with them sooner than anticipated.”(DD)
