Srinagar, May 6 (DD): In a proactive move to enhance emergency preparedness and safeguard public safety, Srinagar Police, in collaboration with the Tourist Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), conducted an intensive mock drill today on the iconic Dal Lake.
The exercise was aimed at simulating real-life emergency scenarios such as boat capsizing and drowning incidents, enabling the personnel to test and refine their rescue and response protocols. Teams from all three agencies participated with full gear and rescue equipment, executing a series of coordinated maneuvers to ensure rapid and effective action during potential water-based emergencies.
Senior police officials including SSP Enforcement, SP Zone East Srinagar, SP Headquarters Srinagar, DySP Headquarters, and DySP SDRF supervised the mock drill, closely monitoring response time, coordination, and adherence to safety standards.
The SDRF also showcased enhanced logistical support and capacity-building measures, signaling increased readiness to tackle any untoward incidents in the future.
This joint preparedness drill underscores the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ongoing commitment to public safety, particularly in tourist-heavy zones like Dal Lake.
