Srinagar Police Crack Down on Narcotics Network; Four Notorious Drug Peddlers Detained Under PIT-NDPS Act

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar,(DD):In a determined effort to dismantle the narcotics trade and protect the youth from drug abuse, Srinagar Police has booked four notorious drug peddlers under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.

The individuals—Tawfeeq Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Ayoub Khan, resident of Shangulipora Noorbagh; Aaqib Mushtaq Kenoo alias Khoda, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Kenoo, resident of Pamposh Colony Noorbagh; Imran Ahmad Bhat alias Chaanda, son of Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Guzerbal Noorbagh; and Faizan Rashid Wani, son of Ab. Rashid Wani, resident of Palpora Noorbagh—were detained following formal detention orders issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. These orders were based on comprehensive dossiers prepared by Srinagar Police.

The four individuals have been lodged in various jails across the Union Territory—namely Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu, and District Jails in Udhampur, Kathua, and Bhaderwah.

According to officials, the accused were heavily involved in supplying narcotics to the youth of Srinagar and had several NDPS Act cases registered against them across multiple police stations. Despite repeated arrests and bail, they continued to engage in drug trafficking, posing a significant threat to public health and safety.

Police have also initiated proceedings to attach their properties under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.

Srinagar Police reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to eradicating drug peddling from the region. “We are systematically targeting and dismantling the illegal drug infrastructure in Srinagar. Let this serve as a stern warning—those involved in such unlawful activities will be caught and brought to justice,” a police spokesperson said.

Citizens are encouraged to report information regarding drug dealers or peddlers by contacting the Srinagar Police helpline at 9596770550. Together, authorities and the public can build a safer and healthier society.(DD)
