Srinagar, (DD)In a swift breakthrough, Srinagar Police have solved a recent theft case reported from Malaratta, recovering gold ornaments and other property worth over Rs 12 lakh.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Mujeeb Ahmad Koul, son of Noor-ud-Din Koul, a resident of Malaratta, who reported that his house was burgled on July 5. He alleged that unknown persons had broken into his home and stolen gold ornaments worth several lakhs.
Acting promptly, Police Station Nowhatta registered an FIR (No. 35/2025), and a team led by SHO Nowhatta launched an intensive investigation.
The probe led to the arrest of the primary accused, Aman Javeed Zogi, son of Javeed Ahmad Zogi, resident of Sarafkadal. His questioning revealed the involvement of two more individuals:
Asif Zahoor Khan, son of Zahoor Khan, resident of Wantpora Sazgaripora
Salik Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Mughal Masjid
Based on disclosures made during the investigation, the following items were recovered:
Gold ornaments valued between Rs 8–10 lakh
Two iPhone 16 Pro devices worth Rs 2 lakh
A motorcycle worth Rs 1.5 lakh
Cash amounting to Rs 42,000
Police said the stolen gold was either sold or used to purchase these luxury items.
Further investigation is underway to trace any additional stolen property and ascertain if more individuals were involved.(DD)
