Srinagar, (DD)In a swift response to an incident aimed at disturbing communal harmony, Srinagar Police have detained two individuals in the Balhama area for allegedly hoisting foreign flags—those of the United States and Israel—in an attempt to provoke unrest and disrupt public order.
According to an official statement, the arrests were made following credible inputs and the recovery of visual evidence indicating that the flags were affixed during night hours. “The act appeared to be a deliberate attempt to inflame public sentiment and propagate anti-social narratives,” the statement noted.
Police launched an investigation using technical analysis and ground-level verification, which led to the identification and interrogation of 6–7 suspects. Based on sustained questioning, the involvement of three individuals was confirmed.
The accused have been identified as:
Mohsin Ali Dar, son of Ali Mohammad, resident of Balhama
Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar, resident of Dar Mohalla, Balhama
Amir Ali Dar, son of Manzoor Hussain, resident of Khazir Mohalla, Balhama
While two of the accused have been taken into custody, efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the third, police said.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant provisions of law. Authorities emphasised that such actions will not be tolerated and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and public order in the district(DD)
