Srinagar Police Intensify Crackdown on Terror Associates in Ongoing UAPA Investigations

Srinagar, DD, As part of sustained efforts to dismantle terror-support networks in the region, Srinagar Police have intensified searches at multiple locations across the city in connection with ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

In a coordinated operation aimed at unearthing evidence and deterring future conspiracies, searches were conducted at the residences of several individuals allegedly linked to proscribed terrorist organisations. These include:

  1. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Aziz Bhat, resident of Sozieth – named in FIR No. 73/2018 under Sections 13, 16 UAPA at Police Station Rajbagh.
  2. Tawheed Ahmad, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Goripora Sozieth – also named in FIR No. 73/2018 under the same charges.
  3. Ashiq Bashir Najar, son of Bashir Ahmad Najar, resident of Soiteng – involved in multiple FIRs including No. 05/2022 (Police Station Maisuma) and No. 19/2022 (Police Station Khanyar) under IPC, Arms Act, and UAPA provisions.
  4. Salik Mehraj Dar, son of Mehraj-ud-din Dar, resident of Soiteng – named in FIR No. 20/2023 under Sections 121A IPC, 13, 18, 39 UAPA at Police Station Nowgam.
  5. Umer Adil Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, resident of Soiteng – also involved in FIR No. 20/2023 under Sections 120B, 121 IPC and various UAPA sections.
  6. Bilal Ahmad Mir @ Faffu, son of Gh. Mohammad Mir, resident of Parimpora – linked to FIR No. 29/DLI/21/NIA.
  7. Burhan Nazir Khushoo, son of Nazir Ahmad Khushoo, resident of Berooni Kathidarwaza Rainawari – involved in multiple FIRs including No. 48/2024 under BNS and UAPA, as well as FIRs No. 70/2016 & 126/2016 (under PSA) at Police Station Rainawari.
  8. Ashiq Malik, son of Abdul Khaliq Malik, resident of Panzinara – involved in FIR No. 30/2018 and FIR No. 280/2017 under IPC, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act at Police Station Parimpora.
  9. Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, son of Late Mohd Amin Wani, resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Sector 4/A.
  10. Mudasir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Sultan Mir, resident of Malikpora Barthana – linked to FIR No. 127/2022 under Arms Act and multiple sections of UAPA (under PSA).
  11. Irfan Ahmad Lone, son of Mohd Abdullah Lone, resident of Bilal Colony Qamarwari – named in FIR No. 163/2018 under Arms Act at Police Station Pattan.
  12. Irfan Ahmad Seeru, resident of Khan-e-Sokhta Nawakadal – involved in FIR No. 156/2024 under UAPA at Police Station Safakadal.
  13. Naseer Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Ashraf Mir, resident of Saderbal, Hazratbal – linked to FIR Nos. 02/2020 and 109/2019 under IPC, Explosive Substances Act, and UAPA at Police Station Nigeen.

All searches were conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures, under the supervision of Executive Magistrates and in the presence of independent witnesses. The operations aimed to seize arms, digital devices, documents, and other materials relevant to ongoing investigations.

Srinagar Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling terror networks and maintaining public order. Officials stated that any individual found abetting or engaging in anti-national or unlawful activities would face stringent legal consequences.(DD)
