Srinagar, (DD): In a remarkable display of efficiency, the Srinagar Police solved a theft case within 24 hours, arresting the accused and recovering stolen jewellery.
The incident came to light when Mst Aimen Akhzar, a resident of Umerabad, Srinagar, reported to Police Station Shaltang that unknown individuals had broken into her house during the intervening night of January 15-16. At the time of the incident, her parents were outside the country performing Umrah. The culprits managed to steal jewellery items from the residence.
Acting swiftly, the police registered a case under FIR No. 04/2025 and launched an investigation. During the inquiry, a few suspects were identified and brought in for questioning. The investigation revealed the involvement of Janatul Begum, a domestic worker employed at the house. Originally hailing from Ward No. 7, Kusthan Madhepur, Bihar, she had been residing in HMT, Srinagar.
Upon her confession, the stolen jewellery was recovered, bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant, carefully verify the backgrounds of household staff, and report any suspicious activity immediately to nearby police units or by dialing 112. Their timely reporting can significantly aid in prompt action against criminal activities.
