SSP Kishtwar Urges Community Action Against Drug Abuse in Warwan Visit

Kishtwar, DD, In a significant outreach initiative, SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS, visited Warwan to engage with the local population, address their grievances, and review the security situation in the region. He was warmly received by SHO Police Station Warwan, Insp. Sam Pal Gill, and community members.

As part of the visit, SSP Kishtwar conducted Police-Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings at Inshan and Afti, where locals raised concerns regarding mobile connectivity, road infrastructure, and the availability of essential commodities, especially during the holy month of Ramzan. Assuring timely intervention, SSP Kishtwar pledged to take up these issues with the relevant authorities.

Public Awareness on New Criminal Laws

During the interaction, SSP Kishtwar also sensitized the public about the newly implemented criminal laws:

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): Strengthening the justice system.

Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS): Enhancing citizen security.

Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023: Modernizing evidence-related procedures.

He also briefed the locals on various digital policing initiatives such as eSakshya, eSummons, and MedLeaPR, which aim to enhance transparency and efficiency in law enforcement.

Call for Community Action Against Drug Abuse

SSP Kishtwar emphasized the urgent need to combat drug abuse and urged locals to remain vigilant. He encouraged them to cooperate with the police and report any instances of drug peddling to protect the younger generation from this menace.

Security Review & Interaction with Police Personnel

During his visit, SSP Kishtwar also reviewed the security scenario in Warwan, interacting with police officers and jawans stationed in the region. He lauded their dedication to maintaining peace despite the area’s challenging terrain and directed them to remain proactive in ensuring public safety.
