State Level India Skill Competitions Concludes in Kargil

Kargil: DD, The State Level India Skills Competition in Beauty Therapy and Fashion Technology concluded today in Kargil, with Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar IAS, attending the felicitation ceremony held at Government ITI Kargil.

The event was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, Principal GDC Kargil, Disket Angmo, Incharge Superintendent ITI Kargil, State Engagement Coordinator- J&K and Ladakh, Radhika Sharma, and UT Nodal Officer, Skill Courses (Higher Education), UT Ladakh, Dr. Javed Naqi, along with instructors and participating competitors.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of integrating education with skill development to harness the region’s demographic dividend.
He encouraged students to pursue not only academic degrees but also practical and employable skills as a pathway to future financial independence.

Appreciating the efforts of GDC Kargil and ITI Kargil for successfully hosting the State Level competitions in Beauty Therapy and Fashion Technology, the Deputy Commissioner urged the institutions to continue such initiatives.
He assured full support from the District Administration in strengthening the skill ecosystem in Kargil.

He expressed confidence that the youth of Kargil will continue to build strong, employable skill sets, become financially self-reliant, and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
He also advised students to explore freelancing platforms to expand their employment opportunities and work independently in the evolving job market.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner felicitated the winners of both the State Level and District Level India Skill Competitions.

Earlier, Dr. Javed Naqi highlighted that Ladakh hosting the India Skills Competitions marks an important milestone and indicator of efforts in strengthening a modern skill ecosystem in the colleges of Ladakh under the National Education Policy (NEP).
He noted that, for the first time, local youth are confidently competing in contemporary trades such as Graphic Design and Beauty Therapy at national-level events, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent on global platforms in the future.DD
