JAMMU: TDD,The authorities have allowed vehicular movement of the stranded vehicles on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel from Qazigund and Banihal to move for their respective places, this evening.

However, the highway continues to remain closed and the situation would be reviewed before allowing fresh movement of the commuters on the highway.
As per the reports, more than 150 passenger vehicles were stranded in Banihal from yesterday due to heavy snowfall and shooting stones at various places on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
Similarly, the stranded traffic was allowed to move towards Jammu from Qazigund with the clearance of snow and improvement in weather conditions.
Taking precautionary measures, the authorities had stopped the vehicular traffic on both sides of the highway, last night, after the inclement weather conditions, amid heavy snowfall, reports of shooting stones at Battery Chashma, Digdol, and slippery condition of roads.
Meanwhile, the traffic police have stated that it did not release traffic on Jammu – Srinagar due to snow accumulation today and slippery conditions of road between NAVYUG Tunnel and Mir Bazar.
“Jammu-Srinagar NHW is still closed. The commuters are advised to avoid journey on NH-44 till the road is clear. The decision regarding the vehicular movement on Jammu Srinagar NHW shall be taken tomorrow after assessment of road condition and getting green signal from road maintenance agencies,” the statement reads.
It states that “The Kishtwar- Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244 road is still closed due to snow accumulation. The SSG road i.e., Srinagar – Sonamarg – Gumari road is still closed due to snow accumulation.”
