Two Arrested; Stolen Property Worth Rs 5 Lakh Recovered

Baramulla, DD, Police in Baramulla have swiftly solved a theft case within 48 hours, arresting two suspects and recovering stolen property valued at Rs 5 lakh.

The incident was reported on 3 June 2025, when Police Station Pattan received a complaint from Mohammad Amin Dar, son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar, a resident of Sumbal and subcontractor with Lumino Industries Ltd. Dar reported the theft of Dog Conductor (wire) from the company’s worksite in Mamoosa during the night of 2–3 June.

Following the registration of FIR No. 99/2025 under relevant sections of law, an investigation was launched. Utilising both technical surveillance and human intelligence, the investigating team successfully identified the vehicles involved in the theft.

Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of two individuals: Shabir Ahmad Tabardar, son of Ali Mohammad Tabardar, resident of Singhpora, and Umer Nabi Khanday, son of Gh. Nabi Khanday, resident of Zangam. Based on their disclosures, the stolen wire was recovered and the vehicles used in the commission of the crime were seized.

Further investigation is ongoing.

Police reiterated their commitment to tackling crime and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities. The force remains dedicated to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.(DD)
