Talab Tillo’s double murder case solved, accused arrested: SSP Jammu

Asks Jammuities to inform police before engaging any domestic help

JAMMU: TDD,Jammu Police today claimed to have solved a brutal double murder case of Talab Tillo with the arrest of a trusted man of the deceased couple from Punjab.

His arrest could be possible with the collaboration of Jammu Police and Punjab Police and effective groundwork by the joint teams. The accused has been identified as Deepak Singh, an auto driver by profession.

Addressing a press conference, the SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh informed that they successfully resolved the brutal double murder case of elderly couple including retired Principal from Education Department, Sanjay Chandel and his wife Bina Devi.

The accused person was close to the family and was considered as a trust man because he used to help the family in the absence of their family members in bringing vegetables, and other things.

“The investigation has revealed that Deepak (accused) wanted some money from the victims, following which, the relations between the victims and the accused became sore,” he said, quoting the investigation.

He said that the accused had strangled to death the elderly couple with a rope and fled from the spot.

After committing the crime, he said that the accused was on the run, and he had dumped his personal mobile phone to avoid detection, whereas the wife of the accused also lodged a missing report that he did not come home days before her husband murdered the elderly couple.

The Jammu Police were able to resolve the murder case with the help of technical, CCTV, neighbours, victim’s family members, and coordinated efforts of the investigation teams of Jammu Police from different police stations. Further investigation in the matter is on.TDD
