Udhampur,(DD:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday presided over the Passing-Out Parade of the 17th batch of Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySsP) and the 26th batch of Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.

A total of 49 DySsPs and 1,112 PSIs successfully completed their intensive training and officially joined the ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Congratulating the newly inducted officers, the Lieutenant Governor hailed their dedication and called upon them to uphold the values of justice, discipline, and service.

“Like ancient warriors who embodied the creative, nurturing and transformative powers of the divine, you too must serve with courage and integrity,” he said, drawing parallels between mythological ideals and the modern-day police force.

Paying tribute to fallen police personnel, the LG praised the force’s relentless efforts in combating terrorism and maintaining law and order across the Union Territory.

“The entire nation looks at J&K Police with admiration for its professionalism and success in handling multifaceted security challenges,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of modernisation, the LG urged police officials to leverage Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and inter-agency cooperation to prevent radicalisation and defeat terrorism.

“Despite advances in technology, there is no substitute for beat and area policing. A balance between tech-based and human intelligence must be maintained,” he asserted.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to zero tolerance towards terrorism, calling for intensified operations against overground workers and those providing financial or logistical support to militants.

“J&K Police, along with the Army and CAPFs, have full freedom to act. We must work together to dismantle the terror ecosystem,” LG Sinha said.

He also stressed the need for community policing and collective vigilance to foster public trust and enable a united front against anti-national elements.

The LG commended the SKPA trainers for equipping recruits with skills in cybercrime, AI, narcotics control, counter-insurgency, human rights, and the newly introduced criminal laws. He took the ceremonial salute, inspected the parade, and felicitated outstanding performers.

The ceremony was attended by DGP Nalin Prabhat, senior police and civil officials, MLAs, and a large number of family members and dignitaries.(DD)
