Temperatures drop further in Kashmir: Srinagar records Coldest night of the season at -4.1°C

Shopian freezes at -6.6, Leh records -10 degrees Celsius temperatures

Srinagar, TDD,The winter chill deepened across Kashmir once again as the mercury dipped further, bringing freezing nights and frost-laden mornings to the valley.

Srinagar witnessed its coldest night of the season,with the temperature plunging to -4.1°C, offering a stark reminder of the season’s icy grip.

Shopian, a picturesque town surrounded by frosty orchards, bore the brunt of the cold, recording a biting -6.6°C, the lowest in the valley. Other regions like Pulwama and Anantnag also shivered at -6.3°C, while Gulmarg, the famous ski destination, stood frozen at -4.3°C.

Jammu’s higher altitudes weren’t spared either. Padder recorded a brutal -8.4°C, making it one of the coldest spots in the region, while Banihal and Bhaderwah experienced icy mornings at -2.6°C and 0.3°C, respectively. In contrast, Jammu city enjoyed a relatively mild 8.6°C, highlighting the stark variation in temperatures across the region.

Meanwhile, Ladakh reaffirmed its reputation as the coldest region in northern India. Leh recorded a bone-numbing -10 (TDD)
