Doda, (TDD) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today criticized the National Conference, Congress, and PDP, blaming them for the decline of Jammu and Kashmir over the past 70 years.
Speaking at a large rally in Doda, Modi remarked that terrorism in J&K is nearing its end and will soon be eradicated.
Modi accused the National Conference, PDP, and Congress of fostering separatism and terrorism, stating that they have long neglected Jammu’s interests. “The Congress is the most deceitful party in the country. Their leader claims that if they had 20 more seats, they would have jailed all BJP leaders. I ask them, are they contesting elections to send people to prison? It is Congress that is spreading hatred across the country, including in J&K,” Modi said. He also made history as the first Prime Minister of India to visit Doda.
Addressing the political landscape, Modi emphasized that the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir would be crucial in shaping the future of the Union Territory. “It is the BJP that will be responsible for restoring J&K’s statehood,” he stated.
Targeting the manifestos of NC, PDP, and Congress, which promise the return of Article 370, Modi questioned whether people wanted a return to the days of unrest. “Do you want stone pelting on the streets again? Do you want to see separatism and terrorism resurge in J&K? Do you want schools and businesses to shut down again?” he asked, receiving a resounding “NO” from the crowd.
Modi pointed out that these parties failed to hold Panchayat elections in J&K since 2000, while the BJP-led government ensured the extension of democracy to the grassroots level. “We conducted the first-ever Block Development Council and District Development Council elections, and young people are now stepping forward,” he said.
The upcoming elections, according to Modi, are a direct contest between “three political families and the youth of J&K who are pursuing their aspirations.” He noted that many youths who once threw stones in protests are now focused on building a better future. “The stones that were once thrown are now being used to build infrastructure,” he added.
On the anniversary of the assassination of Kashmiri Pandit leader Tika Lal Taploo, Modi announced the launch of the Tika Lal Taploo scheme to fast-track the rights of Kashmiri Pandits. “We are determined to ensure justice for the victims of terrorism. A white paper on the victims will soon be released to establish accountability.”
Promoting BJP’s candidate from Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar, whose parents were killed by terrorists, Modi declared that her candidacy represents the party’s resolve against terrorism.
He reiterated that the BJP is committed to restoring statehood to J&K and transforming it into a terror-free region and a paradise for tourism. “J&K will become a global film destination, and a direct train service from Delhi to Srinagar is on the way. Bhaderwah, Doda, and Kashmir will attract not only Bollywood but also Hollywood,” Modi concluded.(TDD)
